That is what Westchester County is asking you to do if you’re thinking of flushing away unwanted medications.
This Saturday, Oct. 26, as it turns out, is the federal Drug Enforcement Administration’s nationwide Prescription Drug Collection Day. As such, the county will be collecting unwanted medications at its Household Material Recovery Facility at 15 Woods Road in Valhalla from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Flushing them down the toilet can dirty rivers and streams.
Unwanted meds can also be dropped off at the H-MRF by appointment on the first Tuesday of every month. Appointments can be made on-line or by calling the Westchester County Recycling Helpline at (914) 813-5425.
The H-MRF is located on the county’s Grasslands Campus.
