It doesn’t take an especially keen eye to recognize the beauty of the Hudson Valley. Still, if it’s your mission to preserve that beauty, it doesn’t hurt to have someone known for her unique ability to frame beautiful images help you out.
To that end, photographer Annie Leibovitz is helping Scenic Hudson celebrate its 50th anniversary by making photos of the region and, for one day only (today) exhibiting them in Grand Central Terminal. Look for them today in the terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall.
In a news release, Leibovitz said, “Scenic Hudson’s contribution to preserving and restoring this river and this valley is staggering. I don’t even want to think what it would be like without them.
“I went out and photographed what I came across. This is a very personal look. The river, the light, the artists, the children. Farmers—the ones who have been here for generations and the new ones who have come to embrace the land. It is our land, our river, and it is always changing. The project is ongoing, certainly not finished. In some ways it never can be.”
