Assemblyman Tom Abinanti, a Democrat from Mount Pleasant, got an early start on the 2014 election season this week when he announced in a fundraising email that he will run for reelection.
He appealed to supporters to send him money to discourage any potential primary or general election opponents from taking him on.
Here’s more from his email:
I’ve worked hard representing our community. I’ve passed some important legislation. Just as important, I’ve been a strong advocate for
* Better Education – and critical of the State Education Department’s misguided new policies
* Preserving our Environment – and very concerned about attempts to open vast areas of New York to hydrofracking for natural gas
* Fairness for People with Special Needs – and highly critical of our State’s failure to meet their growing education, health care, housing and employment needs
The next campaign finance filing date is Jan. 15.
