The parks committee of the Westchester Board of Legislators has canceled a meeting to review Sustainable Playland’s plans for Playland Park in Rye for the second week in a row.
Tuesday’s meeting was set aside for a discussion of the financial details of the non-profit’s plans. Sustainable Playland was chosen by the administration of County Executive Rob Astorino to take over the park and its plans have been under review by the board for months.
But amid growing skepticism about the viability of the proposal, the significance of the cancellation is unclear. Legislator Peter Harckham, D-North Salem, the chairman of the parks committee, met with the administration and legislative leaders Monday afternoon but afterward said it amounted to “discussions on discussions.”
Harckham said earlier that he had canceled the meeting because the scheduling of the meeting suggested to him that there could be changes to Sustainable’s plans.
“There’s just not clarity right now,” he said.
