The White Plains Board of Education officially appointed Paul Fried Monday as the new superintendent starting July 1.
Fried, who has been superintendent of the Montville Township, New Jersey schools for the past five years, was given a three-year contract. His salary will be $275,000. He will also get a $10,000 contribution to a tax-sheltered annuity, a $500 a month car allowance and health insurance.
Fried was chosen from among 62 candidates. From 2005 to 2010 he was superintendent of the Mamaroneck School District and before that was a principal and assistant superintendent in Ossining.
Fried has a doctorate in educational administration from Teachers College, Columbia University.
